Inspiration for the styling

This image is from Issey Miyake's archive of photographs. It shows the intricate positioning of one sort of fabric swatches. This affirms that the styling/creation of garments or accesories can be simple and effective...I am thinking minimal styling is the way forward for our styling. Simple geomteric shapes could be repeated all over a model for example, or cut out sections of clothing neatly cut, etc.

I have chosen this image (above) due to the detailing and repeated pattern effect of the architecture in the background and not particularly for the dres in the foreground. This idea of a repeated pattern fits alongside Fay's idea of clashing prints and reference to Missoni and the statement patterns that this brand is known for. Also, rather than merging the boundaries of art and fashion together or taking inspiration of art and placing it into fashion styling, which yesterday's PH2011 lecture was about, we could take inspiration from architecture and use it to influence the garments and accesories within out editorial.

The structure around her shoulders is effective in the image above! I really like this as the bow adds feminity to the structure and robotic/futuristic theme, which often looks quite masculine due to the sharp lines and minimal detailing.

I really like the minimal but effective styling in these two images. The paper structures remind me of origami and like the image below the lighting is effective in caatching the shapes and linear structures well. The model's left eye looks distorted due to the light which isn't good! but due to more careful positioning this would not occur. I love the paper form around her neck though, I think it would be great to have something similar to this!

Inspiration for the headdresses or accesories that Fay/Sophie could make could be taken from this image. This paper dress was made for the August 2010 issue of L'Officiel. The delicate nature of the material is well concealed as the structure looks very strong and from first glance looks to be made from plastic. The geometric and angular shapes could inspire a structure or jewellery in some way. The lights are reflected off the shapes on the dress well, making the photograph and the model look quite dynamic!
