Pose and Lighting Inspiration

Kate Moss photographed by Mario Testino

This pose reminds me of teenagers and how they are in between adulthood and stil having the innocence of childhood and its good feelings. Personally, a small bit of insecurity and not really knowing where you are, emotionally speaking, is portrayed within this photo which emphasises the idea of this pose implying the teenage years within the image spectrum.

This pose appears structured as if Kate Winslet is stressed or busy withion her life. This pose or something similar could work well with the later images within the spectrum we are trying to achieve.

Similarly to the image below, this pose appears youthful and childlike.

I think this pose (above) appears quite youthful and could portray childhood within our photographs as it is relaxed and carefree, which being a child is, compared to the structured feel of adulthood.

This 'graceful' aesthetic is not what we will be really portraying, unless in the older teenage years possibly. However, I chose the image to show how limited light can be just as attractive as bright, white background images. I think this is a beautiful image, just may be not the right look for this project?

This lighting above is nicely done too. Her facial sskin tone does not look as perfect and even as it could do, but the gaardient of light in the background is what I like in photographs. Most of our shots are going to be full length, however, we will experiment with some close-ups and depending on our best shots, we will create an interesting layout for our editorial!

The model in the image above is positioned too close to the background for the look we want to have in our photographs, however the lighting is flattering on the model, emphasising her attractive features and defined cheekbones. The ring of light disappearing into the top corners with shadow creates a nice and tasteful aesthetic.

This lighting (above) is the style that we are trying to achieve. The use of a spotlight to concentrate the viewers attention on the model and the clothing, as well as having an intriguing and structured shadow behind to create an interesting look. This may be seen as 'used before' and 'cliche' so we are trying to make our images look more interesting aesthetically and backed up by a strong and developed concept from the inital word of 'Education'.

The shadow apparent in the left image is the kind of aesthetic that I can imagine us having, but hopefully more of a spotlight effect on the model. This shot looks dynamic and not very 'structured' so this kind of pose could work for the more childlike and youthful photographs.
